UGA is dedicated to meeting
the needs of students with disabilities by providing special software
and computer hardware for students with special needs.
In addition to the Student Learning Center's six stations dedicated to
providing for students with disabilities, the Disability Resource Center,
located in Clarke Howell Hall on North Campus, and funded in part through
the Student Technology Fee, is, according to computer services specialist
Matoya Jones (above right), “a specialized computer lab for students
with disabilities on campus.”
“A lab like this provides equal access to students with disabilities
by allowing them additional resources to assistive technologies that can
be very expensive and that a normal person would not be able to purchase,” says
Jones. “The Student Technology Fee has been great in helping to
do this.”
